    How to run a check

The checker is a faster version of a logged-out look at search, suggestions, replies, and sensitive-media flags. It is not an official X status.

    1. 1Open xshadowban.com. You do not need an account on this site.
    2. 2Type the X username without the @ symbol. Handles are 1–15 letters, numbers, or underscores.
    3. 3Press Check and wait for the probe cards to finish. A run usually takes a few seconds.
    4. 4Read the verdict and each card. Green is a pass, red is a fail, and amber is a warning. Confirm anything important with the manual test.
    5. 5Share the result to X or save the result card. The link opens the same check for anyone who taps it.

    Twitter shadowban FAQ

Common questions about shadowbans on X (Twitter) and how to fix them.

What is a Twitter (X) shadowban?

A shadowban is when X silently limits your reach without telling you. Your posts still appear on your profile, but they're hidden from search results, the For You feed, or other users' replies. There are four common types:

    1. Search ban — your account doesn't appear in the search bar.
    2. Search suggestion ban — you no longer autocomplete when typed.
    3. Ghost ban — your replies are hidden from non-followers.
    4. Reply deboost — your replies are pushed below a 'show more' fold.
How do I check if I'm shadowbanned on X?

Run the probes on this page, then confirm a failure you plan to act on with a logged-out search or reply test:

    1. Type the handle without the @. Usernames are 1–15 letters, numbers, or underscores.
    2. Press Check and wait until the cards finish. A run usually takes a few seconds.
    3. Read each card. Green is a pass, red is a fail, amber is a warning, and an error means that probe did not complete.
    4. Open the guide that matches a failed card, or follow the manual logged-out test before you change the account.

How do I fix a search suggestion ban?

Search suggestion bans usually lift on their own once X's automated system stops flagging your behavior. To speed it up:

    1. Verify your phone number and email in Settings → Your account.
    2. Stop mass-following or unfollowing for at least 72 hours.
    3. Cut posting volume to 5–10 posts per day for a week.
    4. Remove any links to domains X frequently flags (Linktree clones, sketchy shorteners).
    5. Wait 48 hours — then run the check again from the top of this page.

    Once you've waited 48 hours, .

    How long do shadowbans last?

X does not publish a countdown. A temporary-label notice, when one appears, says reach may be affected and does not give an end date. Search, suggestions, replies, and sensitive-media labels are different limits and do not have to end on the same day. A label on a live post can stay until that post is deleted or the label is removed. Measure your own case by repeating the same test later, instead of adopting a number of days from a forum post.

The longer explanation is in how long shadowbans last.

How do I get unshadowbanned on X?

There's no 'unshadowban' button. What consistently works:

    1. Reduce posting volume for 5–7 days.
    2. Avoid mass-following, mass-unfollowing, and bulk block actions.
    3. Don't post the same reply across many threads.
    4. Remove links to domains X dislikes and re-post without them.
    5. Verify your phone and email if you haven't already.
    6. Wait, then re-run the checker to confirm the ban has lifted.

Reporting the shadowban to X support rarely speeds things up — the automated systems reset on their own.

Why am I shadowbanned if I didn't break any rules?

X uses automated systems that flag accounts for patterns, not just rule breaks. Common triggers:

    1. Posting or replying too fast (burst activity).
    2. Lots of replies to people who don't follow you.
    3. A sudden spike in follows or unfollows.
    4. Links to domains X dislikes (shorteners, Linktree clones, spam-flagged sites).
    5. Being mass-reported by users or a coordinated group.
    6. Being a new account (under a few weeks old) with high activity.
Does X tell you if you are shadowbanned?

X does not send a notice that says 'you are shadowbanned.' Some accounts do get a message that a temporary label was applied and that reach may be affected, without an end date. Suspensions and locks are different: X tells you that normal use is blocked. A visibility limit can also happen with no notice at all. Compare a logged-out search and reply view with what you see while logged in, or run the checker and read the individual cards.

Can I check someone else's account?

Yes. Enter any public handle. The probes use publicly visible signals: search, suggestions, reply visibility, and sensitive-media flags. They do not show DMs, the account's Under the Hood report, or other private data. Protected and suspended accounts do not behave like a normal public profile, so those results are easy to misread.

    Why do shadowban tools disagree?

They often are not running the same test. One tool checks whether from:handle search returns recent posts. Another only checks autocomplete. Another looks at reply ranking and may never open Show more replies. Requests fail, results get cached, and a logged-out session can differ from a logged-in one. A single buried reply is ordinary ranking. Treat a disagreement as a reason to run the manual test, not as proof that one brand is the official answer. This checker is a heuristic. It is not an X enforcement API.

Is a shadowban the same as a suspension?

No. A suspended or locked account is blocked from normal use, and X says so. A visibility restriction leaves you able to post and see your own content. Followers may still see posts while search or replies are filtered.

Is this X shadowban checker accurate?

It repeats public signals a manual audit can repeat: search, suggestions, reply visibility, and sensitive flags on recent posts. X does not offer an official shadowban field, so no tool can be authoritative. A card that errors did not finish. A warning on one reply can be ordinary ranking. Read the cards, then confirm anything you might act on while logged out.

    How often should I re-check?

Not every few minutes. Repeating a check does not lift a restriction, and search results move around on their own. After you change behavior, wait at least a day and run the same test again. This page also waits 30 seconds between runs in the browser.

Is the X shadowban checker free?

Yes — completely free. No account, no signup, no email required. Check as many handles as you want.

    — it takes about 5 seconds.
